Description:

Several thousand points were randomly assigned to discrete horizontal groups. Each group was then scaled in size and dispersed vertically. This effect emulates a forced perspective illusion, giving the scene a sense of depth that is not actually present within the raw data. A color palette was chosen to evoke the appearance of the Arachnocampa glow worm, with a vaporwave twist. This genus of glow worm is actually a type of carnivorous fungus gnat larvae. They are indigenous to New Zealand, where they hang bioluminescent silken strands from the ceilings of caves as a means of attracting prey.

Print Detail

  • The following is a macro photo of a 16 x 24 inch artist proof on matte paper.
  • Please note that these pictures are taken extremely close to the artwork to give a better feel for what it is like to in the presence of this piece.
  • Most of our pieces are scale invariant, so small zoomed in regions can be hard to distinguish from the whole. We think this property gives the artwork a particular quality of bottomlessness.
